THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE WORLDS

Credits

Concept and application by @maplesyrupsuckr. Built with the work of the artists, musicians and open-source creators below.

Transaction crate inspector

The hinged wooden inspection crate, procedural plank/metal-band styling and coin motion are original CSS 3D artwork authored for bitcoin.watch. No new external model, texture, audio or font is used. The illustration explains transaction structure; coin icons are not a count or scale of the bitcoin transferred.

Atlas treasure ceremony

The gilded Roman-inspired eagle, articulated layered feathers, hinged wooden coffer, coin texture and treasure animation are original procedural artwork authored for bitcoin.watch. The miniature ceremony is decorative and does not modify market shares or the abacus count.

Chamber of Echoes and scene visitors

The Chamber of Echoes architecture, bronze chimes, reflecting-pool shader, original pentatonic score and stereo hall impulse response are authored for bitcoin.watch. The chamber reuses the credited Poly Haven CC0 stone texture. It is a Roman-inspired fantasy sanctuary, not an archaeological reconstruction. Its twelve hanging chimes use muted candle-direction colors and a slow data-driven turn; the pool reflection and architecture are procedural. Its small cross and “PAX / Peace be with you” inscription are decorative Christian details; market readings carry no religious or predictive claims.

The Port dolphin geometry and movement, Explorer mermaid tail/fins and marine foam/spray are original procedural work. The mermaid upper body and rig adapt the already-credited CC0 Quaternius F3 harbor woman: lower costume removed, sea-green fabric tint, original tail and circlet, and procedural swimming poses. The Coliseum's ceremonial standard-bearer reuses the credited male harbor rig and fitted centurion armor, with an original purple GRATIAS standard and procession/salute poses. These short donation encounters do not represent market transactions or change battle results.

Charging Bull

“Charging Bull” by gelmi.com.br / Rodrigo Gelmi.

Bronze Bear Statue

“Bronze Bear Statue” by Samuel Snow.

Materials and lighting

Poly Haven, CC0:

Architectural geometry, scene effects, and interface were authored for this prototype. Recorded sound effects and their licenses are listed below.

Battle characters (current scene)

Charging Bull 2.0 by Miguelangelo Rosario.

Armoured Spirit Bear by borisvdb.

Both files obtained from the Allen Institute Objaverse public distribution mirror; source-page and embedded license/author metadata agree. Original static sculptures remain in the asset directory but are not used in the current battle.

Roman Port

  • Egyptian Ship, Kelisei Ventura: source, CC BY 4.0. public/assets/port/merchant-ship.glb. Normalized axes and origin, scaled, positioned, and animated as a whole vessel; confirmed Port ships use a vertex-colored crimson sail. The sail artwork is replaced on both faces with an original bitcoin.watch wordmark texture; this is an imagined Mediterranean harbor, not a documented reconstruction of a Roman vessel.
  • Pharos–Lighthouse1, badger5: source, CC BY 4.0. public/assets/port/lighthouse.glb. Scale and placement adapted.
  • Roman Greco Temple Aged, Shaz: source, CC BY 4.0. public/assets/port/temple.glb. Scale and placement adapted.
  • Water normal map, Three.js examples: source, MIT. public/assets/port/water-normal.jpg; license retained in public/assets/port/three-LICENSE.txt.

Original and mirror metadata, previews, geometry inspection, and exact download provenance are retained in ../asset-research/port/.

Coliseum banners supplied by the user

Logos are used as supplied at the user's request. The user identifies Bitcoin.com and Orange Rock as paid sponsors; their requested placements link to those brands.

Performance preprocessing: the bull’s unused money-print textures were removed from the shipped GLB by scripts/prepare-bull.mjs. Geometry, skeleton, and all 14 animations are retained; the original download remains in asset-research/battle.

Port people, carts, and livestock

The following models are licensed under CC BY 4.0. Source metadata, original downloads, geometry inspection, and optimization reports are retained in ../asset-research/port-upgrade/.

  • Slave – Rise of Atlantis, Kathrin&Christian (extracrispi): source. public/assets/port/dock-worker.glb. Adapted as dock workers, townspeople, and the discreet preacher/listeners. Normalized scale, material variants, procedural skeleton poses, and added clothing. The source has a rig but no usable authored motion clip; movement is procedural.
  • Wooden cart, DZs: source. public/assets/port/wooden-cart.glb. Geometry/UVs preserved; opaque 1024² maps recompressed to JPEG (12.06 MB → 4.02 MB). Scale, batched material geometry, and wheel pivots adapted.
  • Goat, hendrikReyneke: source. public/assets/port/goat.glb. Scale, placement, and subtle idle motion adapted.
  • Sheep, hendrikReyneke: source. public/assets/port/sheep.glb. Scale, placement, and subtle idle motion adapted.

Roof tiles, portico arches, masonry, market stalls, amphora handles, coiled ropes, terrace, additional clothing, and the livestock pen are original procedural scene geometry.

Retired Port citizens (retained source assets)

  • The Tavern Woman 1 and The Tavern Woman 2, François Espagnet (author), CC BY 4.0.
  • Sources: Woman 1, Woman 2.
  • Files: public/assets/port/citizen-woman-1.glb, citizen-woman-2.glb. Normalized proportions, procedural rig motion, and vertex-colored costume/hair/skin variations. These medieval source costumes are adapted for an imagined classical harbor, not archaeological reconstructions. Source files, license metadata, and inspection results are in ../asset-research/port-citizens/.

Observatory

Armillary sphere, terrace, classical columns, braziers, Bitcoin coin lettering, stars, and data orbit are original procedural geometry. The sandstone color map and HDR environment reuse the Poly Haven CC0 assets credited above. Stars and the procedural zodiac glyph canopy are decorative rather than an astronomical map. Explorer reuses the credited ship/people/environment assets with procedural gulls and original manifest artwork.

Recorded world sound effects

All sound is opt-in. Clips are locally hosted, high-pass filtered and limited, transcoded to 128 kbps MP3, and mixed with bounded voices and subtle room reflections. These are Roman-inspired game effects, not authenticated recordings of ancient instruments.

  • Kenney — Impact Sounds, CC0: impactBell_heavy_002, impactMetal_medium_001, impactWood_medium_001, impactPunch_heavy_001, footstep_concrete_001 → bell, metal, wood, impact and step clips.
  • Kenney — RPG Audio, CC0: handleCoins2, cloth1, creak2, bookFlip2 → coins, cloth, creak and page clips.
  • jasinski, submitted by qubodup — Beach Ocean Waves, CC0: wave_01_cc0-18363__jasinski__alkaibeach.flac → ocean clip.
  • Julie Damsgaard / Spring Spring — Pleasing Bell Sound Effect, CC0: pleasing-bell.wav → chime clip, pitched down for Observatory interactions.
  • InspectorJ (www.jshaw.co.uk) — Hand Bells, F, Single.wav, CC BY 4.0. Public high-quality preview adapted as harbor-bell.mp3: onset trimmed, high-pass filtered, five overlapping strikes with alternating levels, limited and faded. The Port plays this short handbell phrase at its original pitch; the older heavy bell remains exclusive to the Mint. Source attribution is also in the Port's artwork credits.

Current audio files are in public/assets/audio/; the original cross-world set is approximately 151 KB and the combat set adds approximately 193 KB before HTTP compression. Only a world's relevant clips load, after the user enables sound.

Animal combat recordings

  • confusion_music, bull 5 (B) and bull 6 (C), CC BY 4.0. Real bull field recordings at the Great Yorkshire Show, Sony PCM-D50. Public high-quality MP3 previews adapted as bull-call.mp3 and bull-snort.mp3; filtered, trimmed, loudness-normalized, and varied in playback. The second cue name describes its game role, not a scientific classification of the recording.
  • U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service / AntumDeluge, Bear Growls, CC0. bear_01.flac and bear_02.flac adapted as bear-growl.mp3 and bear-roar.mp3 with filtering, normalization and restrained pitch variation.
  • Kenney — Impact Sounds, CC0: impactPunch_heavy_002, impactSoft_heavy_003, footstep_grass_002, footstep_wood_001 adapted as body-hit-a.mp3, body-hit-b.mp3, hoof-a.mp3 and hoof-b.mp3. These are foley layers used to suggest weight, not animal field recordings.

The combat set adds about 193 KB. It replaces the former generic Coliseum punch/cloth cue. Calls alternate at irregular intervals, ground contacts follow active movement, and heavier vocal/impact accents follow liquidation events. Source credit and license information also appear in the arena's asset credits.

Explorer sailing soundscape and music (2026-09-20)

  • sailing-wind.mp3: Masts whistling #1, Dorian CLAIR, BigSoundBank, CC0. Trimmed, filtered, faded and encoded for the sailing loop.
  • sail-flap.mp3: flag.wav, GeorgeHopkins, Freesound, CC0. Edited excerpt, filtered and faded.
  • voyage-folk.mp3: Folk Round, Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com).
  • voyage-land.mp3: Lord of the Land, Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com).
  • voyage-adventure.mp3: Call to Adventure, Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com).

All three music tracks are licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0. Re-encoded to 112 kbps with entrance/exit fades. Instrumental adventure / folk score, not a reconstruction of ancient Roman music. Music streams one track at a time, begins only after enabling sound, and pauses when muted, hidden or leaving the world.

Character casting review (F3 selected for the worlds)

  • people-review/farmer.glb, adventurer.glb: Ultimate Modular Characters, Quaternius, CC0. Official creator downloads, converted from embedded glTF to GLB. Original geometry/animations preserved; review adds proposed palette tints and cargo grip poses.
  • people-review/medieval-woman.glb: Ultimate Modular Women, Quaternius, CC0. Same conversion and review treatments; weapon mesh hidden. Adopted as port/harbor-woman-f3.glb: weapon removed, 14 skinned parts batched into one 6,404-triangle mesh, three shared clothing palettes, only authored idle/walk clips retained, cargo grips adapted. Rebuild with node scripts/prepare-harbor-woman.mjs from web/. Existing men are unchanged.
  • people-review/tavern-old-man.glb: The Tavern – Old Man, François Espagnet, CC BY 4.0. Palette tint studies, scale normalization and procedural animation in review only.
  • people-review/neutral-peasant.glb: Neutral peasant, Zak Renat, CC BY 4.0. Original downloadable model mirrored in Objaverse with embedded creator attribution. Review adds global tint studies and scale normalization; source animation retained.

Current models shown in the review use the existing harbor assets and their original credits above. Paid alternatives use links / seller-hosted previews only; no paid 3D files were purchased or redistributed. Proposed palette changes are not additional authored faces or costumes. Free candidate clothing is not presented as historically accurate Roman dress.

Mint skyline and mining attribution

The Port skyline Mint is original procedural geometry. Mining pool attribution uses the public mempool mining-pools registry at runtime. Attribution is a pool estimate, not an individual miner identity. Last-24-hour block counts come from mempool, with Blockchain.com as a fallback; unrecognized pools remain Unknown. Coinbase transactions are read from Blockstream Esplora, with mempool as a fallback.

Hall chants and Coliseum battle score (2026-09-20)

  • hall-gregorian.mp3: Gregorian Chant, Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com), ISRC USUAN1600052. Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0. Used in the Observatory (the Mint now uses Ancient Rite). Wordless, chant-inspired composition, not an authentic liturgical recording. Adaptation: original 4.8-second stereo hall impulse, equalization, loudness normalization and entrance/exit fades baked into a 128 kbps MP3.
  • battle-legionnaire.mp3: Legionnaire (2022 Remaster) by Scott Buckley — released under CC BY 4.0. www.scottbuckley.com.au. Re-encoded at 128 kbps with loudness normalization and entrance/exit fades.
  • battle-five-armies.mp3: Five Armies, Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com), ISRC USUAN1100875. Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0. Re-encoded at 128 kbps with loudness normalization and entrance/exit fades.

The Coliseum alternates the two orchestral battle tracks. This is a cinematic score for a Roman-inspired world, not a historical reconstruction. Music streams only after sound opt-in and obeys the shared saved music switch, pause, hidden-tab and disposal states. Hall reverb is rendered into the asset, without an additional live convolution node for music.

Distinct Mint and Atlas scores

  • Ancient Rite — Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com), ISRC USUAN1900048. Track and license. CC BY 4.0. Local mint-ancient-rite.mp3: reduced loudness, layered room echoes and entrance/exit fades, 128 kbps MP3. A modern choir-based score, not an authentic ancient Roman recording.
  • Heroic Age — Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com), ISRC USUAN1100848. Track and license. CC BY 4.0. Local atlas-heroic-age.mp3: normalized orchestral score and entrance/exit fades, 128 kbps MP3.

Observatory retains Gregorian Chant; Mint, Atlas and Coliseum now have separate scores.

Coliseum storm recording

  • public/assets/audio/thunder.mp3: Thunder by Dave_Girtsman, Freesound 332543, CC0. Public preview recording of thunder and heavy rain, normalized with edge fades and encoded at 128 kbps. Only played with sound enabled during a liquidation storm.

Coliseum crowd and herald moments

  • Crowd Shouting/Speaking Ambience by StarNinjas, OpenGameArt source, CC0 1.0. arena-crowd.mp3: nine-second excerpt, fades, loudness adjustment and MP3 conversion. Source license verified September 21, 2026.
  • Roman Horn – Announcing sound by deleted_user_6109353, Freesound source, CC BY 3.0. arena-horn.mp3: public high-quality preview, fades, loudness adjustment and MP3 conversion. A modern Roman-inspired effect, not a historical recording. Source license verified September 21, 2026.

The Forum

The homepage is an original decorative miniature harbor, reusing the Port's credited merchant ship and procedural skyline landmarks. It is navigation artwork, not a visualization of live market activity. The gallery, map table, water shader and stonework are original procedural geometry.

  • forum-ancient-winds.mp3: Ancient Winds, Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com), ISRC USUAN1900043. Track and license, CC BY 4.0. Three-minute excerpt, reduced volume, entrance/exit fades, re-encoded at 112 kbps. A modern ambient harp/strings score, not an authentic ancient Roman recording. Only streams after sound opt-in and respects the shared music setting.

Coliseum Roman reinforcements

  • Roman Centurion Armor, Tactical_Beard, Sketchfab source, CC BY 4.0. public/assets/arena/centurion-armor.glb. Authored textured armor (13.9k triangles), fitted and skinned to the existing human rig; combined into one armor draw. The Gallic guest reuses its adapted cloak. Source metadata and the public Objaverse download provenance are retained in ../asset-research/arena-roman/.
  • Human anatomy, face and base tunic reuse Slave – Rise of Atlantis by Kathrin&Christian (extracrispi), CC BY 4.0, credited above. Adaptations: clothing/hair masks for armor fit, materials, lowered arms, procedural walking/combat poses, equipment attachments, bounded group staging and human-scale proportions. Shield artwork, short/long swords, torque and moustache are original scene geometry. These are stylized Roman-era guest combatants, not archaeological reconstructions or real liquidation participants.

Harbor delivery derivatives — September 29, 2026

public/assets/port/optimized-v1/ contains delivery derivatives of the same temple, merchant ship, lighthouse, wooden cart, goat, sheep, dock worker and F3 woman credited above. Authors, source links and licenses remain unchanged. Adaptations: meshopt lossless attribute/topology compression, WebP texture encoding (quality 90 for color, 98 for normal/material maps; maximum 2048 px, or 1024 px for cart/livestock). No vertices, rig weights or animation keys are removed. Node transform round-trip differences are below 1e-5. Original files remain available as the no-WebAssembly fallback; the optimization script and per-model verification report are retained in the private source repository.

Donation QR and Bitcoin address validation

The donation dialog generates its QR locally. New MIT-licensed dependencies: qrcode-generator 2.0.4 (Kazuhiko Arase), @scure/base 2.4.0 and @noble/hashes 2.4.0 (Paul Miller). Their license notices follow. The Forum now reuses the same attributed lighthouse asset as the Port.

Fonts and interface software

Geist and Geist Mono, The Geist Project Authors, SIL Open Font License 1.1. Official font source. The full copyright and license are preserved with the software notices. The serif bitcoin.watch wordmark and outlined Bitcoin symbol are original brand artwork; system serif text uses the viewer’s installed fonts.

The interface uses Three.js, React, Lucide icons and other open-source libraries. Full software and font notices preserve their copyright and license text. The code and package-lock identify exact versions. Scene screenshots used for social previews reuse the same credited assets and adaptations above.
